We would like to offer a huge congratulations to Newcastle University undergraduate student, Scarlett Clarke, who has been awarded this year’s Sweeney Miller Law scholarship.

As her prize, Scarlett will receive £1000 towards the cost of her studies and the opportunity for paid work experience with the firm during which she will gain a practical insight into the workings of a busy law firm and learn about the route to qualification and the opportunities in the legal field that may be available.

The Sweeney Miller Law scholarship was developed in collaboration with Newcastle University Law School and recognises the highest academic performers in land law, contract law and equity and students can apply for the scholarship after receiving their second-year exam results.

Submissions were judged by Sweeney Miller Law’s Managing Partner, Surbhi Vedhara, Partner and Head of Commercial, Jess Fenwick. The judges also recognised the work of runners up, Nikol Borisova and Jonathan Parr, who each received chocolates and flowers for their submissions.

Commenting on the Scholarship, Sweeney Miller Law’s Managing Partner Surbhi Vedhara said:

‘As expected with the Law School undergraduates, the calibre of submissions for this years’ scholarship was extremely impressive, we clearly have a lot of talented future lawyers! We want to congratulate Scarlett, and all the students who applied for the scholarship, and we look forward to welcoming her to the office for her work experience. It is always a pleasure to work with the Law School and students to help encourage and develop the next generation of lawyers.’
