Sunderland Sunday League Third Division team, Seaburn FC, sponsored by Sweeney Miller Law, have been crowned Champions for the 2022-2023 season.
After a disappointing start to the season, losing 7-0 to Grangetown FC, the team regrouped and was determined to succeed. Three wins, a draw and a 2-0 defeat followed, but then a spectacular 20-match unbeaten run between October and April, demonstrated the team’s resilience and determination. The season finished with several away games, the penultimate match ending in a 0-0 draw against Velocity Times Inn FC. The final game of the season saw a 3-0 win for Seaburn against Humbledon PF FC, who finished the League in second place.
Seaburn FC, who play in sky blue kit, emblazoned with the Sweeney Miller Law logo, finished top of the League Table with 74 points, 9 points clear of second place Humbledon. Managed by Jason Kirtley Snr, the team’s home ground is at Castle View Enterprise Academy in Castletown, Hylton Castle, Sunderland.
