The Sweeney Miller Law team are delighted at the recent announcement that the firm is a finalist in not one, but three categories at the 2022 Northern Law Awards.
Celebrating its 20th Anniversary, the firm is particularly proud of being a finalist in the Law Firm of the Year (1-5 Partners) Category. The additional categories that the firm is shortlisted for are Team of the Year – Residential Property and Team of the Year – Commercial Property.
The Northern Law Awards have been cancelled due to the pandemic for the last two years, with the most recent ceremony taking place in 2019. The Awards are a celebration of the exceptional legal talent in the region and showcase the industry’s successes. The Awards ceremony takes place on the evening of 23rd June 2022 at the Hilton Newcastle Gateshead.
For the Law Firm of the Year category, the Awards criteria includes business progress and improvement, corporate social responsibility, the development of staff, excellence in the delivery of legal services, and outstanding business performance in areas such as client service, financial performance, strategy and work winning. The team category criteria includes appreciation by clients, client service excellence, legal expertise, project management skills and team working.
Head of Sweeney Miller’s Residential Property department, Partner Damien Todd said of his team being finalists, “I am so proud of what my colleagues have achieved, particularly after the challenges of the past couple of years. Despite everything, the team always put their clients first and it is fantastic to see that this has been recognised in reaching the finals of these prestigious awards.”
Jess Fenwick, Partner in Sweeney Miller’s Commercial Property team added, “To be finalists in this category is a real testament to the resilience and determination of the Commercial Property team. Given the calibre of the deals we are working on, both in the North East and increasingly across the UK, the department is gaining recognition as a significant, experienced and growing Commercial Property team in the region.”
Reflecting on being finalists for not just the two team categories, but significantly also the Law Firm of the Year (1-5 Partners) category, Managing Partner Surbhi Vedhara said: “To be finalists in these three categories at a time when the firm is celebrating its 20th Anniversary is a huge affirmation of the hard work, determination and resilience delivered by everyone at Sweeney Miller throughout its journey. After the couple of years we’ve had, we are all looking forward to catching up with other members of the region’s talented and thriving legal community. We wish all of the other finalists the very best of luck.”
The judging day takes place on Tuesday 17th May 2022 when members of the firm will be interviewed by a panel of leading industry experts.
