Sweeney Miller Law is seeking to recruit an experienced and motivated Personal Injury Solicitor to join our Sunderland office.
This is an excellent opportunity for a solicitor with proven experience (3+ years’ PQE) handling a broad range of claimant personal injury matters, including road traffic accidents and employer liability claims. The successful candidate will manage their own caseload independently, delivering an efficient, high-quality and client-focused service while contributing to the continued growth of our Personal Injury offering.
We are open to applications from candidates seeking either full-time or part-time working arrangements.
You will work closely with colleagues across the wider team, helping to maintain the firm’s high standards of client care and legal expertise while contributing positively to the development of the department.
Role Description
- Managing a full caseload of claimant personal injury matters from initial instruction through to settlement or trial where appropriate
- Handling a range of cases including road traffic accident claims and employer liability claims.
- Acting as the main point of contact for clients and providing clear, pragmatic legal advice throughout the claims process
- Investigating liability and quantum issues and obtaining appropriate supporting evidence
- Liaising with clients, insurers, medical experts, counsel and other third parties
- Reviewing medical evidence and preparing schedules of loss
- Conducting negotiations with insurers and opponents to secure favourable outcomes for clients
- Drafting court documents, witness statements and pleadings where required
- Managing litigation proceedings and complying with court directions and procedural deadlines
- Maintaining accurate records on the firm’s case management system
- Ensuring files comply with regulatory requirements and internal compliance procedures
- Building strong relationships with clients and referrers through excellent service delivery
- Contributing to departmental targets, business development initiatives and continuous process improvement
You Will Have
- Qualified Solicitor status or Chartered Legal Executive (CILEx)
- Proven experience managing a claimant personal injury caseload independently
- Strong technical knowledge of personal injury litigation and the Civil Procedure Rules
- Experience handling personal injury, road traffic accident and employer liability claims from instruction to conclusion
- Excellent client care and communication skills
- Strong negotiation and advocacy skills
- A professional and confident manner when dealing with clients and external parties
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
- Strong attention to detail
