Sweeney Miller Law has received a Silver Shared Value Award for its support of North East homelessness charity, Oasis Community Housing, at the charity’s recent Black and Gold Ball fundraising event.
On Friday 17th May, 300 people from 46 regional businesses and Oasis Community Housing supporters attended the fundraising event which highlighted the incredible work the organisation does in the community, as well as recognising the business community’s support over the past 12 months. Since the 2023 event, Oasis Community Housing has been able to work with over 1,300 people facing homelessness and housed 342 individuals and families in its Home 24/7 supported accommodation.
The event, hosted by BBC’s Reverend Canon Kate Bottley (the charity’s Patron), also incorporated the annual Shared Value Awards which highlight the support given by the charity’s corporate partners, including Sweeney Miller Law. The firm, with offices in Sunderland and Newcastle and a strong presence in the local and national property market, received a silver award which is presented to partners who have raised between £1,000 - £4,999 in the previous year and have created shared value for the partner organisation and the charity.

Set up in 1984, Oasis Community Housing (then Aquila Housing Association) strives to “transform communities by creating access to housing, addressing homelessness and journeying with people as they fulfil their God-given potential” through various fundraising initiatives including the annual Black and Gold Ball. This year’s event raised over £44,000 for men, women and families facing homelessness.
