In the latest edition of Northern Insight Magazine, Jess Fenwick, a partner in Sweeney Miller Law’s Corporate and Commercial departments, gives her rundown of the factors that business owners need to consider when weighing up whether a management buyout is the right option for them.
An MBO is a legal transaction where a company’s existing management team buys the shares, assets and operations of a business they already work in. Often the buyers then take complete control and ownership of the business, using their existing experience and expertise to continue to drive the company forward.
In the article titled ‘Management buyouts (MBOs): what, why, and how’ Jess explores the options available to business owners by outlining:
- What an MBO is
- Why an MBO might be the right exit strategy for your business
- What the challenges business owners and their companies might face during an MBO
- What practical steps should be taken to ensure the process goes smoothly
Jess Fenwick commented: “When properly researched, planned and executed, MBOs are an often overlooked ‘win-win’ for everyone involved, providing a solution that safeguards and contributes to the continued growth of a business.
